The Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) named Tejas got cleared on the Initial Operational Clearance and given to the IAF by Defence minister, A K Antony.
The Tejas LCA was under development for more than 30 years which will be included in full fledged missions from 2012.
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) governed the LCA design and development from 1983 Rs 560 crore budget.
